A sample load pays $2,000 for 800 loaded miles. Add 100 deadhead miles: that's $2.22 per mile.
At 6 MPG and $4 per gallon, diesel costs $600. That leaves $1,400, or $1.56 per mile, before dispatch fees and other costs.
If the rate con lists a $150 late fee, the check flags it for you to review. These are example figures, not a live load or fuel quote.
